Removing the obstacles to peace is the main goal of ACIM, but it requires moving from wrong-minded thinking to right-minded living. It can best be described as unlearning or undoing what we think we know for what we truly Know! So, it can be a jolt to find out that we must learn a new way of being in the world (but not of it).

Learn to become your own therapist and remove the blocks that keep you from knowing real LOVE by joining us on Mondays beginning September 12, 2011 at Unity Christ Church from 5:30 – 7 pm.

Hooray! I once was lost, but now am found! Needless to say, I was the one who had to uncover my true identity –  and the knowing continues to expand and expand.  It’s a relief to know I’m more than the tall, slender (except for two or three places!), brown-eyed woman who smiles at me in the mirror — more than the roles I enjoy each week – wife, mother, sister, friend, teacher, counselor, writer, spiritual adventurer.

We are more than the body, mind and feelings that allow us to live our chosen lives, but what is it? From whence does it come? How far does the real me extend?

Surely there’s animating Spirit that puts the sparkle in our eyes — that expands the delightful warmth around our hearts each time we fall in love with a puppy, a sunset, a symphony. Surely there’s animating Spirit pulling our thinking beyond everyday awareness to see the bigger picture, and then to see an even greater picture, ad infinitum.  Surely it’s animating Spirit that brings the swoosh of energy flowing in and out of the crown chakra, opening doorways into boundless beauty, splendor and possibility.

The most humbling possibility of all is that I AM the animating Spirit — that within this Essence of the Divine I live, move, and have my being. Each time I find more of Me, I also find the Me that is You and the You that is Me! Ah, the realization there’s but one I AM.

 Join me at UCC the afternoon of the 21^st at 1:30. Together we’ll explore new dimensions — once experienced, the experience becomes the jewel for which we are willing to sell all.

Can you hear the soft whisperings of the Christ within? “Wake up. Wake up. I AM in you. You are in me. All things are possible!” 

Dear Friends,

            One of my greatest blessings is to be part of our growing spiritual community at Unity Christ Church because I am surrounded by people of great courage and wisdom who inspire me – people who are willing to keep asking the ‘hard questions,’ exploring spiritual wisdom and courageously making shifts in perspective that help to create healing, peace and plenty for themselves and for a world that is moving through enormous shifts.

            I continue to feel gladness of heart and mind for the celebration of Unity’s 25^th Anniversary.  Along with deepening friendships, expanded teamwork and building community, the $12,000 profit has helped to make much needed building repairs, pay off Unity’s mortgage and send an $1,800 tithe for Hope House, a planned residential facility for safety and well being of homeless students and Myrtle Beach High School.  We are a blessed spiritual community, and blessing others from our prosperity is a great gift to us all.

            When James Trapp, CEO of Unity Worldwide Ministries, did a Q & A for us after the Gala, he mentioned the book, “What Are You – Really?”  He said this book by Unity teacher, Imelda Shanklin, had been very helpful for his former church community, Unity on the Bay, Miami, a 1,200 member strong church, in building deep spiritual consciousness.  Susan Boles, our resident angel, spiritual intuitive and Licensed Unity Teacher, is ‘taking the ball and running with it’ and presenting one of her light-filled workshops on Sunday, August 21^st, using this book as a catalyst to take us to higher ways of viewing ourselves and the world.  I’m going to be there!

            Susan’s workshop comes just in time because September marks the 10^th anniversary of 9/11, and with world events since then, many of us have been periodically swept over by feelings of sadness, anger, shock, disillusionment, fear and helplessness.       

            Good news is: At Unity, an educational center for spiritual living and healing, we acknowledge the above feelings and then practice principles of perennial wisdom that help us shift to a consciousness of ‘peace and plenty’ in the midst of world chaos. 

            We actually see the chaos as a necessary component in ‘creating a world that works for all life.’  Want to deepen your faith, spiritual strength, creativity and remember your magnificence?  If so, then join us for a month of events (see Sept. events below) to celebrate the power of YOUR heart and mind to experience plenty and to be the peace you want to see in the world.

UNITED NATIONS WORLD DAY OF PEACE – Wed., Sept. 21* 2 – 5 PM * A time of healing with ‘Art from the Heart’ focused on Peace in our Minds and in our World.  Soul Collage Cards with artists, Kit Blaker, Sally Renata, Cynthia Dyer, and Willis-Whyte.  Bring collage images from magazines or photos, scissors, glue stick, heavy card stock.  Some supplies available at Unity.  Love offering will be received with proceeds going to a Peace project.

            I’ve just returned from Wildacres, a small conference center located on a 1400 acre tract of wooded land that borders the Blue Ridge Parkway. When on the road, I love my first glimpse of those gently rounded mountains, said to be the oldest on Earth — my heart expands, my eyes fill, and I can almost feel the mountains extending long arms to give me a “welcome home” hug. I’ve experienced mountains in many parts of the world, but it’s only the NC Mountains that greet me with such love.

            No doubt our physical beings resonate more with some parts of the Earth than others. I don’t know why, but I do know that our Souls, Spirits, and bodies, are nurtured when we are at home. That place may have little to do with geography.

            There’s a wise saying, “Home is where the heart is.” How true. Wherever we find ourselves in love, that’s home. Wherever we feel loved, that’s home. The best news is that we are always home. “Home” is within our shining, individualized Souls and Spirits, which extend way beyond our physical bodies. Their Light is constantly flowing in, through and around these cute little Earth suits we wear. It’s impossible for us to leave Soul and Spirit behind, but it’s quite possible to be totally unaware that they constantly gift us with all that is needed to live a rip-roaringly fulfilling, successful life.

            Sometimes we feel totally disconnected. That’s when our thoughts are so caught up in what’s happening in the outer world that we don’t even see the Light that’s shining within and all around us. We’re like fish swimming in the ocean asking, “Where’s the water?” 

            Home (God) is always just a loving thought and feeling away.         

Isn’t that why we feel at home at UCC?

Even though I cannot be with you, even though I cannot see you or talk with you, I am as close to you as a thought, I am as near to you as the love I feel in my heart. Whenever I think of you I bless you, and my love encircles you, until the end of the earth separates us. I do not worry about you. I know that God is watching over you, that He is your health, your strength, your source of supply, your happiness, your peace of mind.

Wherever you are God is; wherever I am God is. He is watching over us while we are absent one for the other and making us know that we are forever one in Spirit.

Moment by moment UCC is creating itself anew. The last twenty-five years have brought us to a wondrous new birth into greater service along the Grand Strand.

The only constant in the universe is change.Why? Because existence is energy. Energy is perpetually in motion — moving, morphing, expressing the Divine in new ways. Thus, our individual lives, groups, and systems are also in a state of constant flux. For too many Human Beings that’s a problem.

The most miserable individuals and groups on the planet are the ones that are trying to keep everything just like it is/was. Impossible! Much easier to accept what is, surrender to Divine flow, and avoid a lot of pain.

Bright eyes see the Christ Light within and around every man, woman and child. When each one of us says “Yes” to being an expression of Divine Light and Love, a blissful world of Peace and Prosperity gathers around us.

As we plan a memorable 25^th Anniversary Gala, we’re saying YES to a glorious, new wave of Spirit that’s pushing UCC into greater visibility and service on the Grand Strand. Today we’re making a commitment to move to the forefront as a vehicle for promoting positive Possibility, Peace and Prosperity for every Human Being.

Enjoy the celebratory festivities. They’re our initiation into greater visibility in the community.  Affirm UCC’s wondrous new journey into service – applying our life transforming principles — lifting consciousness above and beyond all expectation.  Together we can!

Discover the Power Within You

Unity Christ Church is ‘sharing its fullness’ with the Grand Strand as we celebrate our 25^th year for the entire month of June.  We’ve all been inspired by UCC community member, Carlottia Scott, team leader for our 25^th Anniversary Gala, who says, “Unity Christ Church is the best kept secret on the Grand Strand and it’s time to get Unity out of the closet!”

So, here we go…June 25^th we celebrate at Springmaid Resort with our “elegantly casual” Gala, Silent Auction, music with “Glory” from the House of Blues, keynote speaker, Rev. James Trapp, President and CEO of Unity Worldwide Ministries, and M.C., Rev. Richard Levy, from Unity of Wilmington, NC.  And exciting news!  A portion of the proceeds from this church fundraiser will be given to Hope House, a residential facility for homeless students at Myrtle Beach High School.

Our special Gala guest will be Rev. Mary Ann Finch whose inspired vision birthed UCC.  This faith-filled, audacious ‘black woman from Detroit’ came to establish Unity, a non-traditional church, in the deep south of Charleston, SC, and UCC two years later in Myrtle Beach.  Both churches continue to grow in this powerful spiritual path for our times called Unity.

It has been my true privilege to serve as Spiritual Leader of UCC for six years and we all have great gratitude for the many individuals who through 25 years supported UCC with prayer, creativity and financial blessings as members, volunteers, workers, Licensed Unity Teachers, Ministers and Spiritual Leaders.  Wherever you are – near and far, thank you for creating unity in the world and at UCC.  UCC loves you, we bless you and we appreciate you.
